FIRE AT KAIKOHE

OLD HOUSE DESTROYED SPARK IGNITES CLOTHES (From Our Own Correspondent) KAIKOHE, To-day. One of the oldest houses in Kaikohe, owned by Mrs. C. Willett and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. T. McCready, was totally destroyed by fire about eight o’clock last evening. The occupants were away at the time and as the lire started In the kitchen it is supposed that a spark from the stove ignited, some clothes which had been left to air in front of it. Nothing was saved, as the flames had a good hold before they were discovered by neighbours. The furniture was insured for £l5O and the house for £3OO in the United Office.
