FROM ASHES
Tussaud’s Rescued
FAMED WAXWORKS CROWDS THRONG PLACE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Every type of Londoner and many Americans thronged Madame Tussaud’s waxworks, which have been rescued from the ashes after three years, and reopened with bands and flags. The old dinginess has given way to a marble hall, marble stairs, electric lifts, and a gold balustrade. Crowds flocked round the family detailing excitedly how the Queen was lovely, and how the Prince of Wales was just like his picture. All the old kings and queens have been faithfully resurrected, while Sir Alan Cobham and Colonel Charles Lindbergh are among the latest arrivals.
A new chamber of horrors is a dim. dark dungeon, with stray beams of light shining on the faces of criminals.
