AUCKLAND SAVINGS BANK’S GIFTS The trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank decided to-day to give £2,000 to the Auckland Salvation Army Congress Hall and £2,000 to the Plaj 7 and Recreation Association t 6 assist In the purchase of a building for the Community Club (subject to approval of the Governor-in-Council). This brings the donations of the trustees to educational and charitable objects up to £IOB,OOO. The first gift of the kind was made in 1906. to the Seddon Memorial College. At the annual meeting to-day the president, Mr. Edward Anderson, said the trustees had given due consideration to the undenominational character of service as well as its value to the community. The decision to contribute to the institutions named was based on their personaT knowledge that the organisations were giving valuable social service. irrespective of denominatio.n, colour or creed.
