MOSCOW BIDS FOR AFGHAN’S FRIENDSHIP

The Riga correspondent of “The Times” says that Moscow is energetically preparing to receive the King and Queen of Afghanistan ceremoniously, and is conducting a campaign among the masses to explain why the Bolsheviks, who have declared war to the death on all monarchs, must splendidly welcome King Amanullah. The whole Press devotes long articles emphasising King Amanullah’s 50-day war against England in 1919, hoping that Moscow’ w’ill dispel the illusions of British friendship acquired during his recent visit to England*
