OHIO RESULTS INDICATE PARTY’S CHOICE NOMINEES FOR PRESIDENT ( United P. A. — By Telegraph Copyrigh t ./ (Australian Tress AsscwiatianJ NEW YORK, Tuesday. Reports from Columbus, Ohio, show that in the primary Presidential elections a majority of the 51 Republican delegates from Ohio were instructed to vote for the Secretary of Commerce, Mr. H. C. Hoover, as candidate for the Presidency. As a result of the Democrat primary voting all the 4S delegates were instructed to vote for Mr. A. Smith. Governor of New York State. Mr. Hoover's victory in Ohio is unquestionably the most important development in the presidential campaign. and seems to indicate incontrovertibly that, just as Mr. Smith now seems certain to be the Democrat Pre sidential nominee. Mr. Hoover will bo the Republican choice. Ohio was to be the definite test. It appears to have been such, with the result and its meaning most obvious. Mr. Hoover is assured of the votes of from 29 to 32 delegates. Mr. Hoover has scored a complete victory In the Massachusetts Republican primaries. He received more than 100,000 votes there. Mr. CoolIdge received only about 15,000. The Democrat primary in Massachusetts was a victory for Mr. Smith, who received more than 90 per cent, of all the Democrat votes cast.
