DRAMATIC COURT SCENE JUDGE REBUKED (United P.A. — Bp Telegraph — Copyrtyh*) Reed. 9.45 a m. SYDNEY, To-day. The Rev. Father O'Cforman. a parish priest, caused a scene in the West Maitland Circuit Court yesterday. He took exception to the remarks of Mr. Justice James, who said: “I have often wondered whether skilled medicos should not be permitted to perform a certain operation, as at the present time the men who have caused a girl’s disgrace generally escaped scot free, whereas the girl is faced with shame.” Father O’Gorman rose in court and indignantly exclaimed: “I publicly protest in the name of this town against your remarks about legalising abortion. It is the sort of thing that is done in the slums of Turkey.’ Air. Justice James replied cour; eouaiy: “I merely expressed an opin ion, and, you as a minister of religion, must have wondered too.” Father O’Gorman without ado left the court.
