CHATHAM CUP

SUSPENDING COMPETITION SATURDAY’S SOCCER After some discussion, the Management Committee of the Auckland Football Association at its meeting on Tuesday evening decided to the Radio Broadcasting Company permission to broadcast games from Blandford Park. The chairman, Mr. A. Menzies, quoted instances to show how this might affect the attendances, but the general feeling of the committee was that it ought to be given a trial. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, it was decided to request the New Zealand Football Association to discontinue the Chatham Cup competition for one year only, in view of the financial stringency felt by all the associations with the exception of Wellington.
