FLYER BEGINS TRAINING SPEED OF 350 M.P.H. HOPED British Official Wireless Noon. RUGBY, Monday. Flight-Lieutanent David Greig haa been officially appointed to command the high-speed experiment section of the Royal Air Force. He will go into trainng at once to fly the Supermarine Napier S 5 monoplane in an attempt to break the World’s speed record of 31S miles an hour. The attempt will be made at Cal?hot in about two months’ time, and It is hoped to attain a speed of nearly 350 miles an hour. It may be assumed that Lieutenant Gr eig will command the British team *hich will defend the Schneider Trophy next year. * Till recently it was considered doubtful whether a new British attemp on the air speed record would be this year, but now it has been decided definitely to make the attempt.
