AT ST. BENEDICT’S HALL
PUCCINI SOCIETY ENTERTAINS | There was a large attendance of | members and visitors at St. Benedict’s ; j Hall last evening, when the Puccini J i Amateur Musical Society held its first | | social of the season. For the decora- i j tion of the dance hall gay streamers in j j the colours of the club had been ; chosen, with potted shrubs, ferns j and bowls of hydrangeas transforming : odd corners into discreet little nooks. | In the supper room tlie tables were j effectively adorned with clusters of i i bright chrysanthemums and ferns. Mr. I McDonald, chairman .briefly pointed out the aims and objects of the new society and asked for the sincere co-operation ! of the members in order to assist in j very way for the ultimate benefit of j the club. 1 During the evening enjoyable musical items were contributed by Misses | Beryl Poulton, Cecile Duncan and ! Evelyn Ironside, and Messrs. Birch, A. | Prentice, G. Fagan and R. Caldwell, | Mr. Nobel Grace acting as acompanist. When receiving the guests, Miss Gladys Ryan, official hostess for the club, wore a charming frock of mareschal rose georgette panelled with heavily beaded designs in gold and finished with roses of gold lame. Among those present were: Mrs. McDonald, frock of wistaria mauve crepe faconne, with ruched ribbons, on uneven hem. Mrs. Herbert, black gown of San Toy relieved with accordion pleated parma violet georgette. Mrs. R. Bell, Air blue frock of Bengaline faced with amber crepe de chine. Mrs. Ryan, black satin beaute gown with vest of Oporto blue georgette. • Mrs. R. Sinclair, ivory frocu of crepe alonza worn over silver lame. Mrs. Ellison, sapphire blue gown of crepe de chine with diamante. Mrs. E. Brooks Clarke, rosedust georgette frock, inset with ecru lace. Mrs. Angelo, georgette frock of viola mauve with skirt of flounced tulle. Mrs. Hadley, black frock of crepe satin faced with fleur-de-lys grey georgette. Mrs. Moore, dove grey frock of rayonne with ivory accordion pleated crepe de chine. Mrs. Lind, black frock of satin beaute crepe de chine, with drawn gold thread work. Mrs. Monnock, toned frock of cinnamon and tango ninon. Miss Adele Connolly, crepe de chine frock of Venetian blue, with soft ribbon ruchings on hem. Miss Olga Clarke, frock of scarlet and black chiffon, with ceinture of scarlet roses. Miss Edna Herbert, champagne lace frock worn over crepe de chine, with swathing of orchid velvet. Miss Gladys White, sea foam green frock of taffetas relieved with mauve. Miss Mavis Monnock, lavender frock of satin faconne with scalloped hem. Miss Nellie O’Keefe, wild rose gown of georgette with deep hem of ecru lace. Miss Hazel Lunney, frock of amber crepe alonza with motifs of beaded roses. Miss Molly Yeo, iris mauve frock of georgette with pastel green relief and shawl. Miss Ray Pasquin, heavily beaded frock of cameo pink georgette. * Miss Esmee Tierney, chiffon velvet gown of wild aster with multi-coloured corsage posies. Miss Lily Ryan, rose-dust frock of crepe de chine with pastel blue facings. Miss Evelyn Ironside, eau-de-nil frock of crepe de chine worn over silver lame with diamante. Miss Beryl Poulton, frock of blush rose chiffon beaded in silver and shawl. Miss Cecile Duncan, dainty frock of Chantilly lace finished with hand-made roses in scarlet and silver. pomegranate georgette with panels of silver lace. Aliss Z. Stevens, black frock of charmeuse relieved with rose and gold thread designs. Aliss L. Burns, Atlantic blue frock of crepe de chine with silver lace. Aliss Kathleen Touhey, georgette frock of thistle-tuft with oned mauve ribbons. Aliss Cantell, black gown of crepe, alonza faced with Oriental trimmings. * Aliss A. Bond, frock of delphinium crepe de chine with uneven hem. Aliss Q. Simpson, opalescent frock of satin beaute with ivory georgette. Aliss Jessie Tubb, ashes of roses gown of silk marocain with motifs of deeper rose designs. Aliss Alavis Peterson, frock of mignonette green georgette with silver lace hem. Aliss Rosa Hall, turquoise blue gown of crepe de chine with ribbon ruchir.gs on skirt.
