RENTS DROP BY HALF

HIGH BUS-FARES BLAMED “Houses in the Koh imaramara district, which conTfnanded £3 a week a year or so ago, cannot be let for 30s a week now,” declared a witness from the Kohimaramara district when giving evidence before the Transport Appeal Board to-day. This drop in rent was attributed to high bus fares. The Chairman, Mr. Justice Frazer: But there has been a slump in rents all over the place. The witness: It is far worse in our district than in any other part of the town. Agents always say that when they want to let a property they are up against the high fares all the time.
