AUCKLAND’S MOVE COMMITTEE SET UP After a preliminary meeting, Aucklanders who are enthusiastic about forming an airplane club on the lines of those in Australia set up a committee to further the proposal last evening. To encourage aviation the Government will present the club, If It is established on a working basis, with two Moth planes and for every machine the club purchases out of its own funds the Government will provide another. Men will be able to qualify as pilots for about £4O, but probably there will be three glasses of members, pupils, active and associate, and the subscription will range from £lO 10s to £1 Is. An airdrome will be granted at Hobsonville by the Government and Mr. G. Henning has offered the use of his speedway at Mangere. A public meeting to discuss the proposal is to be held in the Chamber of Commerce on Friday evening. Mr. H. T. Merritt was in the chair last evening. The committee was set up as follows: Messrs. W. A. Boucher, C. Burgess, R. A, Laidlaw, H. T. Merritt, G. Henning, J. W. White, F. B. Cadman, Major K. Caldwell, Major G. A. C. Cowper, Captain Euan Dickson, Captain J. Seabrook and Mr. D. Harkness. Major Cowper was appointed honorary secretary, and Mr. L. W. Swan the treasurer.
