WOMEN COOKS IN ARMY OF FRANCE

(United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (United Service) Reed 9.5 a.m. PARIS, Monday. WOMEN cooks are replacing men in the French army, each cooking for 400 men, and doing two men cooks’ work. The salary is £SO a year, besides dress and a lodging allowance. They will he uniformed picturesquely, recalling the vivandieres of Napoleon’s armies. Colonels must he satisfied that the cooks are moral and efficient. The decision is hailed as a feminist victory.
