FOR EDEN ELECTORATE

CHRISTIAN SOCIALIST CANDIDATE MR. 0. E. BURTON TO STAND The announcement has been made that Mr. O. E. Burton, of Whangarata, will contest the Eden seat at the General Elections, as a Christian Socialist.

BURTON, who is now school- * teaching at Whangarata, served in the Gallipoli and Egyptian campaigns and later on the Western Front in France and Belgium, where he transferred from the Medical Corps to the infantry. Tie holds the Military Medal and French Medaille d’Honneur. Since the war Mr. Burton has written the official history of the Auckland Regiment and a brief history of the New Zealanders’ part in the war. Tie has also become well known in Auckland as a controversialist, particularly as an anti-militarist and prohibitionist. Mr. V. H. Potter, sitting member for Roskill, will stand for Eden, as the Roskill electorate has been upset by boundary alterations.
