ISLANDS TRIP OFF

BUSINESSMEN’S EXCURSION UNREST IN SAMOA The businessmen’s trip to Samoa and Niue, which had been arranged for about the end of May on the first voyage of the new Government motorship Maui Pomare, has been postponed. The Department of Industries and Commerce gives as a reason for the postponement the unsettled state of Samoa. The secretary of the department, Mr. J. W. Collins, states that the Maui Pomare will arrive in Wellington toward the end of May, and in the event of any of the businessmen desiring to proceed with the original arrangement berths will be reserved for them. The trip would not be. under the auspices of the Government, however. An endeavour is to be made later to organise another excursion.
