HIT ICEBERG
LINER LIMPS TO PORT TERRIFIC IMPACT TWO OF CREW KILLED (United IP. A.—By Telegraph — Copyright.) (Australian Press Association) LONDON, Sunday. With her bows badly buckled, and the fore-part cf the main deck smashed to matchwood, the Canadian Pacific liner Montrose arrived at Liverpool, her captain reporting that she had collided with an iceberg in a. dense fog 800 miles from the Canadian coast. Two of the crew were killed, and two passengers were injured. The impact was terrific. Fortunately the sea was calm. There was no panic. Faced with the alternative of steaming between large icebergs with the possibility of their ripping open the sides of his vessel, or of meeting smaller bergs in almost head-on collision, the captain of the Canadian Pacific liner Montrose chose the latter course. Those on board believe tha.t the wreck of the Montrose under conditions similar to those in which the Titanic met her fate was thereby prevented.
