SPEEDY SADDLE MERCHANTS

TT is suggested in some quarters that the performance of Native Queen in winning the mile saddle heat at Addington on Saturday in 2.10 2-5 constitutes an Australasian race record, but this is not so. Last August Author Jinks, from the back of a big field, put up similar time in the dash saddle mile, but the record at that period was held by Bonny Logan, who at the Canterbury Park New Year meeting of 1926 romped home with the weight on top in 2.9 4-5. This stood the test till the November fixture of the Otahuhu Club, when S. August rode Nelson Fame to victory in the Dunedin Handicap, the distance being covered in 2.9 3-5.
