NEW PLAYING AREA OPENED AT FEILDING
Press Association. P’EILDING, Saturday. The new football grounds at Johnston Park, Feilding, which cost £2,000, were officially opened to-day by the Mayor, Mr. E. Fair. The grounds are perfectly equipped, and a big grandstand is a feature. Mr. T. Collins, president of the Feilding Football Club, who is ehrefly responsible for securing the grounds, received a presentation from supporters of local Rugby. Two senior games were played, in whih Plua Mai (Manukau) defeated P”eilding by 13 points to 11, and Wanganui Old Boys defeated Feilding Old Boys by 19 points to 13. Games at Christchurch Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Although the Rugby season has not yet opened officially in Christchurch, various friendly matches were played yesterday. These resulted: —Old Boys, 13, v. Varsity, 6; Albion, 11, v. Christchurch, 10; Linwood, 20, v. Technical Old Boys, 3. Grafton v. Manukau (From Our Own Correspondent) PAPAKURA, Sunday. A practice match between the Grafton seniors and the Manukau Union’s representative team was played yesterday at Drury. Grafton won by 23 points to 3.
