TO-DAY’S TURF

AVONDALE MEETING

FIELDS FOR WEDNESDAY

FINE LIST OF ACCEPTORS

The autumn fixture of the Avondale Jockey Club is to be held pn Wednesday. Acceptances closed at mid-day to-day, and the result was a fine list, promising more keen contests. The acceptors are as follows:

AWAPUNI TESTS

A QUIET MORNING Press Association. PALMERSTON JN., To day. Dull conditions, with a threat of rain, prevailed for training operations at Awapuni, but it was an off morning. Little fast work was attempted. Crown Area and Broad Acre were partners in a gallop on the plough over six furlongs in 1.19, the former doing it comfortably. Wanderlust had Fee Simple as a partner over six furlongs, the pair finishing together in 1.20. Wanderlust promises to come to hand quickly. Paul Lucerne did easy work, appearing to be sore in front. Le Champ and Desert Lad finished ahead of Some Lad at the end of five furlongs, the last half in 55. It was a disappointing showing on the part of Some Lad, who looks well.

Mooregas scampered over three furlongs attractively. When trotting round later the two-year-old took charge, but his rider managed to. pull him up. Tresham trotted round and then strode out well in a gallop over a round.

Perle de Leon jumped off at the mile post on tho plough, picking up Gaze at the six-furlong post, to run the full distance in 1.44 2-5, the last six in 1.21.

Satrap strode out boldly in a working gallop over a round on the plough, and Money Order was under a hard pull over an easy round.
