NO SOCCER VISIT FROM AUSTRALIA
TOUR NOT FAVOURED Press Association. WELLINGTON. Thursday. There will be no visit to New Zealand of an Australian Association football team this season. This decision was reached at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, held this evening, when the replies from the various centres regarding the proposed tour were considered. It was decided to send a cablegram *o the Australian Association regretting very much that the tour could not take place owing to the attitude of the local associations. A letter was received from the chairman of the Australian Football Association stating that the team which it was proposed to send would be superior to the side which visited New’ Zealand in 1922. New Sooth Wales and Queensland would po?sibly have ten representatives and seven would probably be chosen from the other States. The Chairman: It amounts to this, that only two associations are in favour of the tour, Westland and Otago. The Auckland Association supported the tour, provided a game w*as played in Auckland at the opening of the tour, and that the final test match be played there.
