Stephenson, a former “Grand Dragon” and head of the Indiana Ku Klux Klan, who is now serving a life sentence for the murder of a girl in the rear of the Court during a Klan trial, declares that, the “Imperial Wizard” and Emperor of the Klan, Dr. Hiram W. Evans, told him that negroes had been burned at the stake in Texas. Also, he told witness that one negro had his ears cut off, and that another was branded with the letters KKK. Stephenson also alleged that Evans authorised the black mask and robe for use on killing and whipping expeditions.
