HAMILTON HOSPITAL USING DIRTY WATER

OWN SUPPLY UNSUITABLE TOWN mains to be used (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Thursday. The existence of pumice and silt in the water supply drawn from the Waikato River has resulted in a grave position at the Waikato Hospital. Dr. Gower, medical superintendent, states that since the trouble at Arapuni last January the water has been mo st unsatisfactory. Chlorination was very difficult, and the expense of installing a filtration plant was not justified. The hospital will now use the Hamilton borough supply, when the river is in a bad condition. It is possible » special treatment plant may be installed when the hospital has to use its own pumps.
