GRAMOPHONE SHARES RISE

(Australian Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. There were excited dealings in gramophone shares on the London Stock Exchange to-day on a report of the impending amalgamation of the world's three largest record manufacturing companies:—the Victor Talking Machine Company of America, the Gramophone Company and the Columbia Gramophone Company. The “Standard” says two of the Columbia Company’s directors, now in America negotiating with the officials of the other two companies, say they know nothing of a fusion. The issued capital of the three companies aggregates nearly £12,000.000, but the present market value is almost £30.000.000.
