Obituary
MR. W. S. EVANS Mr. William Saer Evans, who died on Tuesday at the age of 82, was born in Wales and came to New Zealand about 40 years ago with his father, the Rev. William Evans. A year later Mr. Evans was joined by his wife and three young children, and subsequently his three brothers came to the Dominion. Ever since liis arrival in New Zealand Mr. Evans had lived in Auckland, and for the past 18 years he had lived at Mount Eden. His wife predeceased him over a year ago.
Mr. Evans is survived by two sons and six daughters, and there are 15 grandchildren. MR. B. COLBOURNE Mr. Benjamin Colbourne, who has been in New Zealand for the past 53 years, died at the home of his son, 13 Williamson Street, Epsom, cn Monday, at the age of 87. .Coining to New Zealand with bis family, Mr. Colbourne was employed by the New Zealand StLid and Pedigree Company, and until the company was dissolved lived at the well-known Green Hill farm at Paburanga, from which came many fine stock in the early days. At that time there was a stockyard surrounded by native bush, on the site where Purewa Cemetery now stands, and where Mr. Colbourne was buried yesterday. On leaving Pakuranga the family went to Ellerslie. After working in a brewery for some time,, Mr. Colbourne was employed on tr.e Ellerslie racecourse, where, until his retirement 20 years ago. he was engaged on the maintenance and supervision of the tracks.
