FORGED BANKNOTES GIVEN TO BOOKMAKERS
MELBOURNE GANG BUSY By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, Tuesday. Some counterfeit £lO banknotes believed to have been manufactured by a Melbourne gang, were passed on to bookmakers at the Randwick and Williamstown races. A bundle of 176 of these was found in a lavatory at Randwick to-day. The bookmakers had been warned to be on the look-out for counterfeits and several were detected. It is presumed that the men who were engaged In passing them were alarmed and threw their remaining stock away.
