RUSSIANS ARE EARNEST
U.S. ADMIRAL RETURNS FROM GENEVA SCOFFERS REBUKED Bj Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, Monday. The United States delegate to the recent sittings of the Preparatory Commission on Disarmament, Admiral Hilary Jones, has returned from Geneva. He intimates that, while he is unwilling to be quoted directly, many of the larger nations whose representatives took part in the conference regarded the Russian proposals for total disarmament seriously, and believed they were advanced as a real attempt to solve the problem being discussed. Admiral Jones says he deplores the fact that representatives of other nations scoffed at the ideas advanced by the Russians, but he declines to discuss the matter further. He will proceed to Washington immediately to submit his report on the conference. —A. and N.Z.
