LABOUR CONFERENCE

AUCKLAND STRONGLY REPRESENTED

The annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party commenced in Wellington to-day. Auckland is well represented by the six Labour members of Parliament for these Constituencies, and the various trade unions have their chosen delegates to advance their interests at the biggest meeting of Labour’s year. The conference agenda is an exceptionally wide onp, and in addition to embracing remits suggesting a tightening up of the party’s general platform, it contains proposals relating to the annual selection of party leader, questions affecting the licensing issue, unemployment, immigration, land and other subjects which are being largely discussed in the political field at the present time.
