WAIHI CLAY BIRD SHOOT
The Waihi Gun Club held a successful clay-bird shoot on Good Friday. Competition in all cases was keen. In the open handicap, 12 birds, the honours were divided between. C. Naylor and G. Shaw, with the possible number of birds. Ammunson was third with 11 kills. Mr. W. Elleringtons’ trophy was won by W. Smith with the possible nine birds, the runners-up being Naylor, King, Kussek, Parlow, Osborne, Lloyd, each with eight birds. No. 1 Sweepstake (seven birds). —In this match King, Russek, and Lloyd divided with the possible. No. 2 sweepstake (first miss out) was won by C. Naylor on the eleventh bird, with E. King second. No. 3 sweepstake (first miss out) was divided by Dr. Liggins (Thames) and E. King (Waihi), on the twelfth bird. No. 4 Sweepstake (nine birds) —C. Ammunson, with the possible, was first, and C. Naylor second. No. 5 Sweepstake (quail drive<)\ —E. King won with four birds, S. Shergold and W. Smith sharing second place with three kills. * * * Gold duty collected by the receiver of gold revenue in Waihi, Mr. Thomas Morgan, during the quarter ended March 31 totalled £744 6s 2d. Of this amount the Waihi Borough Council received £738 11s 2d.,
