ASSISTING PURIRI SETTLERS

MINISTER SYMPATHETIC A deputation, which waited upon the Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, at Puriri last week, and asked for the widening of the Puriri-Neavesville track did not receive the stereotyped reply that “he would look into the matter.” It was explained to the Minister that if the track was widened the transport of fertilisers would be made easier and the country would develop much quicker. The Minister went over the track, and then said he would grant the request. He said local unemployed workers would be used as far as possible, and the work would be started at once.
