MATCHES AT NAPIER
LOWRY SCORES CENTURY Press Association. NAPIEK, Saturday. The cricket match between Hawke’s Bay and Wellington was continued today under most favourable conditions. With three wickets down for 185 »uns the visitors carried their first innings total of 323. Foley was unbeaten with 117 to his credit, while Dempster (70) and James (42) did best of the others. Gilbertson took five wickets for 102 and Mitchell three for 121. Hawke’s Bay opened well, and at the close of the day had lost four wickets for 274. Lowry gave a fine display for 141. Beuth made *£9 and Shepherd (46) also shaped well. MATCH AGAINST MANAWATU A Hawke’s Bay team also commenced a match to-day against Manawatu and spent most of the day at_ the wickets in compiling -344. Elliot’s display in making 117 was outstanding. He was ably assisted by Bradburn (53), Spackman (36) and Cane (35). Cameron took four wickets for 52, Young three for 14 and Gallichan two for 94. Manawatu, at the drawing of stumps, had lost one wicket for 25.
