AN IMPRESSIVE SERVICE LONDON, Sunday. The Bishop of Salisbury was the preacher at the closing service of the Missionary Council, when there was impressive singing of the Easter service by men and women of the Russian Cathedral choir. A significant resolution was carried during the session, and urged missionaries not to claim on Governments for the armed defence of the missionaries and mission properties. Another resolution urged them to exert unremitting effort end prayer for the renunciation of war. Dr. John R. Mott, of New York, chairman of the council, described the conference as the most courageous meeting in his 40 years’ experience. He was convinced it wouM have farreaching effects. —A. and N.Z.
