RICCARTON CLASSICS

"VOT the least interesting feature of the Canterbury J.C. autumn fixture is the classics, of which there are two. The first of these, on Monday, is for two-year-olds, the Champagne Stakes, in which Goblin Market and Chide are the principal contending pair. On Tuesday there is the Challenge Stakes, . for all ages at weight-for-age, and it has attracted a fine field. If Cimabue wins the Great Easter the first day, the odds on his also taking the Challenge Stakes cannot be named. Reremcana and Eulalie and the two-year-old Goblin Market are also in, so that an excellent line on the Challenge Stakes may be obtained from the Great Easter Handicap.
