RAILWAY ACCOUNTS
NEW CONTROL SYSTEM From the beginning of this month the Railway Department commenced the operation of a new system of accounts control, under which a forecast of revenue and expenditure will be mad* for each four-weekly period, the estimates by subsidiary officers being reviewed by divisional superintendents and then submitted to a committee of officers in Wellington, after which a “master budget’’ will be submitted to the Board of Management. Allowances for each district will be allotted, and the officers in charge will be expected to operate the branches within the limits of he figure established.
