HOMEWORK
Sir, — Parents are more than justified in their protest against the excessive homework set at secondary schools. The whole idea of homework is sadly obsolete, if it is considered from the standard of modern educational thought. It is merely part of a hide-bound system which still approves of the lash, and other revolting cruelty as the basis on which to mould the life of a model citizen. Is it any wonder that 80 per cent, of schoolboys loathe their school days? POST-MOSAIC.
