“THE WAGON SHOW”

KEN MAYNARD’S LATEST Ken Maynard, that past-master of daring feats and reckless driving and riding is the star of a particularly fine circus story, the First National production, “The Wagon Show.” Tl\± fine outdoor picture is vastly different from the rather hackneyed formula of “cowboy” stories, being a very human little tale of a small-town circus travelling through the west in the early days. This was the time of horsedrawn vehicles and man’s perpetual fight with the elements. Maynard, is as usual, the whole show, and holds the attention throughout the finely exciting scenes without the slightest effort, and in a way that many a matinee idol might envy. His wholesome and very handsome person has placed him, in a comparatively short time, in the front rank of male stars. He presents some new stunts in “The Wagon Show” that are more breath-takingly spectacular than ever, aided by his beautiful horse, Tarzan. The circus atmosphere is well-maintained. One interesting feature of the production is the appearance in a minor role of that old-time favourite, Maurice Costello. Many a matron of to-day will remember Costello as the Valentino of her flapper days. He does some good work in this fine picture, while Marion Douglas as Ken’s leading lady is appropriately charming. Here are adventure, thrills, and all the elements of outstanding entertainment.
