ABDUCTION CHARGE

YOUNG MAN IN COURT ARRESTED AT ASHBURTON John Henry McKeich, aged 22, was charged at the Police Court to-day with abducting a girl, aged 18, from her parents at Auckland. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that accused, who was arrested at Ashburton, was serving a sentence for being in arrears on a maintenance order made in favour Of his wife.

Mr. Sullivan, who appeared for accused, applied for bail, and said that the maintenance arrears would be paid.

McKeich was remanded for a week, bail being fixed at £IOO.
