LORD STRICKLAND’S PLAN

The Prime Minister of Malta, IscrrfL Strickland, has advised the Governor to sign special warrants from month to month to provide the supply which was not voted by the Senate. —A. and N.Z. A cablegram from Malta on March 26 stated: —Because the cab-drivers of Malta struck, the Treasury will be without funds from March 31 until April 11. An allegation by Lord Strickland that the Opposition members of the Senate were supporting the cab-drivers, was indignantly repudiated and its withdrawal was demanded. The Prime Minister refused to withdraw. Thereupon the Senate was adjourned until April 11 without passing the Appropriation Bill.
