“LOST HER FIGURE”
POTATOES AD INFINITUM WIFE OBTAINS DIVORCE The sad tale of a wife who “lost her figure” through being forced to eat potatoes ad infinitum, comes from Chicago. The lady was granted a divorce by a Chicago court in consequence of this outrageous treatment, She said that her husband had a passion for potatoes, and was a potato merchant—-no doubt he got them cheap. At any rate, he made his wife cook them three times a day until her former sylph-tike figure had vanished. "When I protested,” she said, “he hit me with a potato masher.” After reading this story one wonders wliat is going to happen to married couples in the future if divorce is granted bedkuse a woman hasn’t the will-power to insist on eating what she wants. Instead of slavishly boiling those potatoes, the wife should have burned them three times a day until the taste and smell of potatoes became an abomination in her husband’s nostrils.
