NEW REGENT
GREAT DIVING CONTEST Considerable interest continues to be shown in the diving contests for ladies which is being held nightly in the Regent Theatre’s stage pool. Last evening the third heat of the contest was decided, and resulted in Miss M. Bell being placed first, Miss J. Milton second, while Miss White and Miss Walsh tied for third place. The chief pictorial attraction is “Get Your Man,” starring Clara Bow. “Get Your Man” was built for Clara Bow. It shows her as a care-free American miss who starts out to see Parisian life alone and winds up by falling in love with a youth of that country—Charles Rogers. But the big item in the story concerns a betrothal in which Rogers figures. The French boy has been engaged to a French girl, Josephine Dunn since he was five years old. Although it is a loveless match for both Rogers and Miss Dunn, they do not care to incur the wrath of their fathers by breaking the betrothal, and it is up to the American girl to do the work. And how she does it! The picture abounds in humour. Miss Bow furnishes the majority of this, but she has able assistance from Harvey Clarke, who appears as the Marquess. Rogers makes a distinctive hit as the leading man, and Josef Swickard, as Rogers’s father, is the same strong character actor that he has been in the past. An Inkwell Imp cartoon, a Regent Review of world events, an Australasian gazette, including pictures of the intrepid Australian airman, Hinkler, and a good comedy, Jack Duffy in “Scared Pink,” are included in the programme. Leslie V. Harvey receives big applause for his rendering of "The Rosary” and “The "Waters of Minnetonka,” and the Regent Operatic Orchestra, under the baton of Maurice Guttridge. renders its usual high standard musical programme.
