ORAKEI-KORAKO ROAD
MINISTER CALLS FOR REPORT The New Zealand Tourist League has been advised by the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce that a deputation from that body recently interviewed the Minister of Tourist Resorts regarding the reopening of the road to Orakei-Korako. This miniature thermal area, which was a great favourite with touring motorists, has been “out of bounds” for several years because of the road falling into disrepair. The Minister of Tourist Resorts has instructed the department’s resident officer at Rotorua to report on the feasibility of repairing the road.
