MANUREWA RUGBY TEAM’S REQUEST CLEARANCE FROM MANUKAU

Strong representations were made bydelegates of the Manurewa Rugby Football Club to the Manukau Rugby Union on Saturday evening, asking for a clearance from the union, to allow its teams to participate in the Auckland Rugby Union’s competitions. It was stated that the main reason for the request was that the country union could not accommodate the club in the various grades, as the Manurewa Club could not field a senior team. After a lengthy discussion it was decided that the management committee of the Manukau Rugby Union recommend the alteration of the existing boundary so as to include Manurewa in the Auckland area. In conversation with an official of the Manurewa Club during the week, a Sun representative was informed that unless the club was allowed to compete in the Auckland competitions, there was a likelihood of the club turning over to League.
