Tho Devonport Yacht Club cruising and harbour races on Satnr. day. The larger keel yachts raced tc Te Kume in conjunction with th* squadron boats, and the mullet boat* were sent to Matiatia. Smaller craft raced over harbour courses in con. junction with the Tamaki Yacht Club. CRUISING RACES Keel Classes The race to Te Kume was started at 2 o’clock, the competitors being the same as those taking part in the han. dicap held by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The result was:— Nga-Toa (13m) .. •• •• .. .. 1 Ariki (scr) 2 Victory (20m) .. .. 3 lorangi. Prize. Ilex. Rang! and Dei. ville did not finish. AViatangi reached , Te Kume under power. HARBOUR RACES V and S Classes Magic. Wild Wave and Rival were 1 the only starters in the race for classes V and S. Wild Wave was first . away, closely followed by Rival anc Magic. r^ t ‘ last-named passed Wile Wave and Rival on the lead to the Sandspit beacon, and held her pose lion for the remainder of the course. The finishing times were: Magic. 4.3.24: Wild Wave, 4125: Rival, 4.12.30. Result: Magic 1 Rival 2 Wild Wave 3 M Class
Six M boats started in the race ft* this class. At gunfire Mara tea <*rcss*d the line first, closely followed by roro, Manene and Maia. Matarerewa* 3m late and Mawhiti 5m late. On tb lead to the Sand spit beacon Marorc caught and pasesd Maratea, roundin? the Resolution buoy 50s ahead of he Manene made the turn 20s later and then came Matarere, Maia and Ma* whiti. It was a beat back to the Sand* spit, and then a lead to the finishing line at Kohimarama. The finishing times were: Marora 4.7.41: Maratea. 4.9.49: Manene^ 4.10 4Matarere. 4.11.7: Maia, 4.13.17; whiti, 4.18.40. Result: M a roro •••• J Maratea •• •• * Manene •• •• • T. X and Y Classes Classes T. X and Y took part *n * general handicap, and were sent to an excellent start. Xvria croflßOthe line first, and was closely by Eleanor. Alerte, Kismet and Marie was Sm late. Kismet soon ovwhauled Xvria. which also had to gh place to Alerte and Eleanor. The finishing times were:— 4.25.53; Alerte. 4.26.12: 4.28.20; Nyria, 4.34.55; Sheila. 4.3»W Marie, 4.47.7. Result: Eleanor I Sheila * I Kismet TAMAKI’S EVENTS The most imporUint trophy for under the Tamaki aent flag was the F. 11. Browne Cup * Class, won by Maroro ana sailed 07 _ Harvey. In the Star Class ated a surprise by defeatinp the _ pion boat Ola. She was mMM* K. Mouat. The order the various classes was the for the Dvonport races.
