DAHLIA VARIETIES

RESULT OF COMPETITION With the idea of creating an interest in more varieties of dahlias, the Auckland Horticultural Society instituted a voting contest at its dahlia show held on March 22 and 23. Each person had a vote for the best 12 varieties. The voting was: —Mabel Lawrence, 245; Jack Hobbs, 227; Shadows Lavender, 218; Champagne, 195; Berengaria, 187; Kitty Rogers, 181; Golden Queen, 172; H. B. May, 157; Sheila Ward, 142; J. L. Crowther, 99; Jerico, 91; Tommy Atkins, 88.'® No person secured 12 correct, but Miss H. H. George, Richmond Avenue, Northcote, secured 11 and one order of merit. Miss Livesey, of Mount Albert, and Mr. H. D. Copper, of Remu.wa-, fiejj. stt.-yh. yL each.
