At Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Eddie Stinson and Captain George Haldeman, flying in a Stinson-Detroiter monoplane, made a world's endurance record. They were up 53 hours 35 minutes.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. SOUTH POLE FLIGHT BYRD’S GREAT PLANE TESTS IN THE SNOW Reed. 9.5 a.m. WINNIPEG, Friday. - The giant monoplane with which Commander Byrd plans to make his South Pole flight was equipped with skis, and piloted by Bennett and Bernt Balchen, started this afternoon for the snow tracts of Northern Manitoba for test flights.—A. and N.Z. HINKLER MAKES RECORD Reed. 9.16 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Australia’s airman, Mr. Bert Hinkler. made a non-stop flight from Melbourne to Cook above the trans-con-tinental railway, making a 1,000 miles record for Australia, and equalling his own flight from London to Rome.—A. and N.Z.
