The Socialists made a wild rush and overwhelmed the Communists, two of whom were seriously injured.—A. and N.Z. BECKETTS FINED.—The proprietors of the Sydney newspaper, Becketts Budget,” were yesterday fi ned the maximum penalty of £2O for selling an obscene publication. For the defence it was Pleaded that the articles concerned in the charges were merely expositions of vice and that no restriction should be Placed upon the Press in exposing wrongdoers.—A. and N.Z. TRUBY KING.—Sir Truby King, "ho attended a Royal party at Buckingham Palace, was asked by the King to remain after the conclusion, when His Majesty conversed with him for bait an hour on the subject of child welfare.
