RIFLE SHOOTING

UNIVERSITY MARKSMEN HASLAM SHIELD MATCHES A series of matches for the Haslarn Shield,, which is competed for by the University Colleges of New Zealand, was fired yesterday by the Auckland University College rifle team. The shooting as a whole was rather disappointing, but K. J. Duncan secured 114 out of a possible 135 points. The practices were: Five shots application at 200 yards, five shots sharpshooting at 200 yards, ten shots rapid at 300 yards, and seven shots application at 500 yards. The team’s total was 773. Details of the scores are as follow; K. J. Duncan. 23, 23. 39, 29—114; G. E. Watt. 22, 16, 43 27—108; L. H. Keslop, 22, 19, 36, 29—106; A. G, Lowe, 22, 14, 36, 29—101; W. R. Simpson, 22, 23, 25, 2S—9S; I. D. Symington, 20, 13, 32, 30— 95; P. C. Griffiths, 24, 6, 31, 15—76; R. L. Munro, 23, 3, 26, 23—75.
