HIPPODROME

TOM MIX IN “SILVER VALLEY” Of the unnumbered roles in which Tom Mix has played hundreds of diversified roles, he never has appeared as a flying cowboy until now. In “Silver Valley,” the Fox picture to be shown at the Hippodrome to-night, a new Tom Mix is met in a flying helmet instead of a sombrero, Dorothy Dwan, his charming lading lady, made lier first flight in this picture, and from the scenes it is apparent that she is at home in the air, even when the plane isn’t exactly on a horizontal flight. It is brought to us from Hollywood that in order to make the picture, Mix took a course in flying and actually won his papers as a pilot. The story concerns a Westerner who takes to flj-ing for the thrill of it. How he rescues a girl from a band of ranch thugs, drives the desperadoes from the range and also crashes to terra firma, all go to make a thrilling picture and a most entertaining story. The audience last night thoroughly enjoyed it. In the supporting cast are Philo McCullough, Jockey Hoefli, Tom Kennedy, Lon Poff. Harry Dunkinson ?nd Clarke Comstock. Of course, Mix remains a cowpuncher despite his new mount, and Tony, the wonder horse, plays his usual remarkable role.
