CHRISTCHURCH V. WAITAKI Press Association. $ OAMARU, Thursday. The annual cricket match between Christchurch and Waitaki Boys’ High Schools was commenced on the Waitaki oval to-day on a fast wicket and in perfect weather. The visitors batted first and compiled 247, Grose giving a dashing display for 71 not out. Stringer made 42, Harper 40, and Dryden 31. Waitaki replied with 114 (Taylor 37, Evans 25, Milner 23). Following on Waitaki added 4 runs without loss before stumps were drawn.
