Suburban Cricket

END-OF-SEASON GAMES Can Harbour A. Stay Unbeaten ? ALREADY in an advanced stage of play, Senior A games played under the auspices of the Suburban Cricket Association will be brought to conclusion to-morrow at Victoria Park. To remain undefeated after a season’s play. Harbour Board A will have to look to its laurels as Ponsonbv is holding an exceedingly good hand.

fJTHERE was no Australia v. New Zealand test match last Saturday week, ana it is hard to understand why so many players should have been away when the final games were started. Must be that end-of-season feeling! BELATED SURPRISES These last matches of the season have already proved most surprising, last Saturday week’s play being in most cases a complete reversal of form. Harbour Board A crashed badly on a poor wicket when facing the Ponsonby attack and just reached the hundred. In reply, Ponsonby had made 83 for five wickets at the drawing of stumps. With every chance of administering the first defeat of the season to Harbour Board, the men from the west end will probably play the rock, until the necessary 18 runs are on the board at any rate. It is a pity that the game has no bearing on championship honours. With three substitutes to fill in the spaces, Harbour Board Colts played well for 175 against a good attack, but Green Lane’s reply of 111 for four is not to be sneered at. This game is really the only one in doubt. For all one knows, the Lane might develop a most unwanted tail. AMONG THE MISSING There is absolutely no reason for players to absent themselves from the field in the manner Ellerslie’s stalwarts did. It serves them right that such a small tally (55 for Ellerslie!) should have been registered. Glen Eden made a most satisfactory 188, but Ellerslie’s opening men had not been dislodged for 40 runs at the end of the day. It should be a two-pointer for the Glen, on all counts.
