MANUREWA CLUB SUCCESSFUL AT HOME Fin© weather conditions greeted the large gathering of visitors at the “At Home,” held by the Manurewa Croquet Club on its lawns on Wednesday afternoon, when representatives were present from the Takanini, Mount Wellington, Otahuhu, Papakura, Papatoetoe, Mangere, Clevedon and Ellerslie Clubs Mrs. E. S. Pegler, president of the Manurewa Club, welcomed the visitors. The arrangements of the function were in the capable hands of the secretary, Mrs. R. Forbes, who was assisted by Mesdames C. Coxhead and G. Gallaher on the lawns; Mesdames G. Osborne and F. Whyte, stall; Mesdames Nield and Whitton, morning tea; Mesdames* Wrigley, Hawthorn, De Carteret, Brown, Dunham, Finlayson, Nield, Whitton, and Miss Knight, luncheon; Mrs. Robertson, ices; Mrs. T. Wood, target croquet. During the afternoon, three sessions of progressive croquet were played, and some very interesting and. keen games eventuated. Following are the results: FIRST SESSION A Section. —Mrs. Ogilvie (Otahuhu), 1; Mrs. Jameson (Otahuhu), 2; Mrs. Little (Papakura), consolation. B Section. —Mrs. Dunn (Mangere), 1; Miss Hamlin (Mount Wellington), 2; Mrs. Short, consolation. SECOND SESSION A Section.—Mrs Patton (Otahuhu), 1; Mrs. James (Papakura), 2; Mrs. Gillies (Otahuhu), consolation. B Section. —Miss Bates (Papakura), 1; Miss McKeeley (Mangere), 2. THIRD SESSION A Section.—Miss Paton, 1; Mrs. Jameson (Otahuhu), 2; Mrs. Gollan (Mount Wellington), consolation. B Section. —Miss Bates (Papakura), 1; Mrs. Nixon (Otahuhu), 2; Miss Dunn (Mangere), consolation. A couple of guessing competitions were held. The winners were Miss Bates, of Papakura, and Mrs. F. Wells, of Papatoetoe. CROQUET CUP PAPATOETOE DEFEATS HO WICK The first round of the Croquet Cup matches, between the Papatoetoe and Howiek Clubs, was won by Papatoetoe some few weeks ago, by the narrow margin of one point, on the Howiek lawns. The final round was piayed yesterday, when Papatoetoe showed its superioritv on their own lawns by the substantial margin of 44 points, thereby claiming possession of the trophy for the next year. The lawns were in good condition, and some very enjoyable games were played. A dainty afternoon tea was provided by the members of the home club.
