Viscount Cave tias resigned the Lord Chancellorship of Britain. Lord Cave is iisappointed that he has not made more rapid progress after his recent operation. His strength is returning very slowly. —A. and N.Z.-Sun. Viscount Cave underwent an operation on February 29, and for some days his condition was critical. He is 72 years of age. He was Lord Chancellor in the first Baldwin Ministry, 1922, and was again appointed to the post in November, 1924. In his younger days, after a brilliant classical career at Oxford, he was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1880, and as a junior in the Courts of Chancery he conducted a large practice with learning and sagacity. As Sir George Cave he represented Kingston in the House of Commons from 1906 to 1918. Most of his distinction was earned as an able barrister and King’s Counsel. In 1914 he was Attorney-General to the Prince of Wales, became Solicitor-Gen-eral in 1915. Home Secretary in 1916, and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 1918, in which year he was made a viscount.
